Stay at home and lie down. Rest after the procedure. Intermittently, the day of the vasectomy and the next day, place an ice bag on your scrotum until bedtime. (20 minutes on and 20 minutes off)
48 hours after the procedure, you may begin showering, letting the water run over the scrotum and incision. Do not scrub at the incision area. Gently dab the area dry after the shower.
Limit all strenuous activity for at least 48 hours. It is best to wait at least a week after the vasectomy before resuming sexual intercourse, or when it feels comfortable to you.
Do not stop contraception until a negative semen analysis (proving no sperm in your semen) has been completed.
Wear compression shorts or an athletic supporter for one to two weeks when up and about 757-525-4636.
Minimal bleeding at the incision or black and blue marks are okay and expected.
