Because Summit Men’s Health is a division of Urology of Virginia, our providers have access to treatments other clinics can’t offer. Providers will first suggest treatments that go from least to most invasive. It might start with lifestyle changes or mental health support.
If these don’t work, other options include:
- Pills that improve blood flow to the penis, helping with erections.
- Vacuum erection devices (VEDs), or pumps, to pull blood into the penis to create an erection. Users then put an elastic ring at the base of the penis so they can maintain the erection.
- Shots given directly into the penis can be another way to help with blood flow and create an erection.
- Penile implants are the most involved aporoach. A device is implanted that can create an erection. It’s entirely contained in the body, so no one can see it. When users are ready, they can activate the device discreetly and even control when and how long they have an erection. Men choose this option for the spontaneity without medicine side effects or ongoing costs.
Men may consider Shockwave therapy to help diagnose the problem. Although Shockwave doesn’t solve ED, it can give patients peace of mind to know if it’s vascular, or something else, and help them make decisions about treatment options.
